So today I am my third day back in Rio after Ten glorious days in Bahia, more of that later if I get organised on here lol !! The weather is starting to turn and its raining and projected to rain until Monday and Tuesday of next week. This leaves me with time to a) actually see more than the beach and the top five tourist spots here b) get in touch with friends and family and c) to actually blog!! I haven't been very good at any of late.
Originally I was mean to be in Rio for all of three weeks - that was seven weeks ago - so aside from my time in Bahia I have been in Rio the best part of six weeks! Dam I must love this city. Coming back here from Bahia was almost like coming home. Its pretty cool to know a city and to know what buses to get and metros to get when it is on the other side of the world to your real home. Its almost like Sydney all over again.
Today it rained and me and my lovely friend Leonie from Holland attempted to chill on the beach as the rain wasn't too bad! Then it got heavier and we conceded and headed back to the Hostels. So tonight it is dinner with Helen out at Tijuca then a late night bus back to Ipanema. Wednesday night is live Jazz night in Praza Teradenta (Which is spelt nothing like that!!) but the rain probably means it won't be happening and im out for dinner anyway!
I did learn some valuable lessons today though - with my first thrush experience (yes really at 34 - not bad going!!) I discovered that Brazil charges a fortune for medication and some idiot chemists even want you to have a prescription!! Also given the high instances of Brazilian waxing (this is Brazil!!) surely instances of Thrush are high so erm is this some male dominated industry trick to rip off women!! Rant Rant Rant!!!
I also discovered that with the thrush Jacuzzis in love motels should be avoided - ha ha that will get you all thinking!! And I manage to drunken text in Rio sober - too many men too little time!! I am sure I will manage the adjustment to life in Edinburgh and pasty chests nae bother!!! Aye Right!!
